Welcome to Leadership Mecosta!

Leadership Mecosta is a nine-month program that includes one two-day retreat and eight daylong sessions.  Participants will enjoy dynamic sessions focusing on leadership skill development and community education which includes an inside look at the systems that make our community what it is today.

Community topic areas include education, healthcare, human services, the arts, media, government, public safety, economic development and we even tour the county.  Community “nuggets” await you!! This program gets participants immersed in what makes Mecosta County special.   Panel discussion, group activities, on-site visits, role-playing games and leadership exercises and dialogue will be integrated into each of the days.

Taste of Mecosta County

Leadership Mecosta is sponsoring the fifth annual "Taste of Mecosta County" on Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn in Big Rapids. This is not only a chance for your establishment to showcase its culinary delights, but a chance for all of us in Mecosta County to come out, celebrate Fat Tuesday and enjoy food from the county's finest eating and catering establishments. At least 15 establishments have signed up already, with more expected to reserve a booth.

Tickets to attend the event are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Tickets will be sold by Leadership Mecosta alumni. Tickets are also available at Mecosta County Area Chamber of Commerce and online at: http://www.chamber.ticketleap.com  


Over the River and Thru the Woods 5K Walk/Run and Big Bad Wolf Adventure Race

Leadership Mecosta’s Over the River and Thru the Woods 5K Walk/Run and Big Bad Wolf Adventure Race will continue September 4, 2010.  It has been held the Saturday of Labor day weekend since its inception in 2004. Participants include avid runners along with folks that just want to be involved.  The adventure race includes competing by running, biking and canoeing.  You can do this race in pairs or create a 3 or 4 person relay team.
