The Comprehensive Leadership Series is a nine month program that includes one two-day retreat and eight day-long sessions. Participants will enjoy dynamic sessions focusing on leadership skill development and community education which includes an inside look at the systems that make our community what it is today.
Community topic areas include education, healthcare, human services, the arts, media, government, public safety, economic development and we even tour the county. Community “nuggets” await you!! This program gets participants immersed in what makes Mecosta County special. Panel discussion, group activities, on-site visits, role-playing games and exercises and dialogue will be integrated into each of the series days. A day may take you to the farm, or to the courts.

Leadership Mecosta 5K Run / Walk
Break in those new tennis shoes, because Leadership Mecosta’s 5K Walk/Run is taking place on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009! Held annually since Labor Day 2004 and coordinated each year by Dr. Jeff Mossel, the 5K Walk/Run draws more than 100 participants every year. And they’ve added a new twist! Participants can now compete in the “Big Bad Wolf Adventure Race” by running, biking and canoeing. Because of the added adventure, they’ve changed the name of the Leadership Mecosta 5K Walk/Run to “Over the River and Through the Woods 5K Walk/Run” because the race follows along the Riverwalk through Big Rapids. Everyone is welcome to participate – whatever your ability! Stay tuned for more details at www.lm5k.org.
